Statement by Andrew Whitfield MP – DA EC Provincial Leader:
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Eastern Cape today proudly announced Councillor Eldrige Ruiters as our Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality Mayoral Candidate.
As a public representative with more than a decade of experience and a deep connection to the people, he did not shy away from this responsibility and today accepted the nomination at the Library Hall in Aberdeen.

Eldrige moved to Aberdeen in late 2010 and got involved in the DA’s 2011 local government election campaign as an activist. He was elected to council in 2013 as a proportional representative councillor.
Twelve years in council has given Eldrige extensive institutional knowledge of the municipality’s governance, its structures, and its operations.
Despite this experience, he remains an activist at heart and is deeply dedicated to the people of Dr Beyers Naude and the daily challenges they face. He is known for his open-door policy and consistently tries to assist residents with any issues they encounter, truly a man of the people.
His proven track record, dedication to the community and commitment to transparency and ethical servant-leadership are the reasons why we are proud to have Eldrige stand as our Mayoral Candidate in the Dr Beyers Naude Municipality. He will focus on service delivery, safety and job creation by creating a well-run municipality and attracting more investment.
The DA believes in Eldrige and we are fully behind him to ensure that he can bring home a DA majority in Dr Beyers Naude.
With Eldrige as our Mayoral Candidate, the DA is ready to bring service delivery and clean governance to the municipality and get Dr Beyers Naude working.
