Katie Holmes takes daughter Suri Cruise on South African safari

He’s got a bit grubby over the years, his spots fading to a uniform dirty grey.

But Suri Cruise’s affection has not dimmed, with the schoolgirl rarely seen without her favourite toy giraffe held tight in her hands.

Now the seven-year-old has taken her lovey to South Africa, to meet the real life version on safari with Katie Holmes.

The mother-daughter duo spent their memorable holiday at the Aquila Game Reserve outside of Cape Town.

A girl’s best friend: Suri’s toy giraffe is always at her side

They were pictured walking happily from the luxury lodge to embark on a day’s animal spotting, Katie carrying Suri’s furry friend in her arms.

The excited seven-year-old skipped along beside her mother, dressed in a pink striped shirt and floral leggings.

She sensibly swapped her favourite mini heels for closed toe Toms pumps, albeit in a glittery pink style.

Suri’s arm remained in a bright pink cast, following an unfortunate accident which saw her suffer a broken bone last month.

Meanwhile Katie was also dressed for the bush in a cowboy hat and tucking her skinny jeans into camel coloured boots.

The pair are sure to have seen a host of wildlife on their trip.

Along with giraffes the reserve is home to elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino.

And it seems the experience may have opened Suri’s mind to finding a new furry friend, with her nanny seen carrying a toy leopard out to the car.

He will have to do well to compete with her beloved giraffe, a $45 ‘Little G’ available in upmarket stores such as Nordstrom.

Suri carries the plush animal whereever she goes, from the school run to helicopter trips to visit her film star father Tom.

Katie is currently in South Africa to film her part in The Giver, a movie that also stars Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep and Taylor Swift.

Natural habitat: Along with giraffes the reserve is home to elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino

Her daughter has apparently been allowed to take some time off school to join her mother, with the safari no doubt judged an educational experience.

Aquila is certainly a worthy destination.

The fancy resort is committed to preserving the native wildlife in the area, working to protect rhinos from poachers, following the violent deaths of two animals on its lands.

Celebrity destination: The Aquila Reserve boasts on it’s website as having hosted such big names as Paris Hilton and Kian from Westlife, although they weren’t sharing the 4×4 with Katie, who had booked a private tour

Rustic charm: The reserve is located around two hours outside the South African city of Cape Town

Aquila runs a non profit to help fight aid the fight, with funds used to finance trained anti-poaching personnel and equipment to help such as bullet proof vests and night vision apparatus.

Of course, that is not it’s only attraction.

It also boasts on it’s website as having hosted such big
names as Paris Hilton and Kian from Westlife, although they weren’t

Firm favourite: Suri has often been spotted out in the Big Apple with the well-loved toy

Katie, get your precious daughter out of the city. Maybe buy a country home so she can have a pony to love and ride? Introduce her to a whole new wholesome way of life. She’s obviously in love with animals.

The fact that a person is always with her daughter does not mean she is a good mother. IMO, Suri is photographed FAR too often when she is with Holmes. When she is with her father, we never see her, just as we never saw Connor and Isabella when they were with Cruise. Unfortunately for Suri, I think Holmes sometimes uses her for publicity.
