Fishing Spears

Here is an unfortunately dark close up of a couple of the fishing spears from St. Lawrence. The points are barbed and angled outward as a result of some fine hafting. This is probably an effective fishing tool in rivers or any type of shallow water.
St. Lawrence Islanders are known for the selling of artifacts found on their land.
Where this may be cool in the fact that their artifacts get wide-spread, it is also a misfortune because their extraction of these items in this manner results in the lack of obtaining any contextual information from these objects.
Some people take great offense to this, however, these items are the product of the St. Lawrence Islanders’ relatives. These people should be able to do what they want with the artifacts since they are on their land. In many cases these people are selling these artifacts as a means to provide for their families.
