Terrified tourists have caught on camera the moment an enraged beast stampeded their Jeep.

Tourists on safari thought they were going to simply watch elephants from a distance.

The astonishing footage begins with the safari party stopping to watch a herd chewing on vegetation in South Africa’s Kruger National Park.

The elephants chew vegetation, with little indication they are about to stampede.
The enormous animals seemingly take insult at the invasion of privacy and start to walk towards the vehicle.

The elephant herd turns toward the Jeep in a move the stunned guide called very rare.
It ends with one of the elephants, a territorial female, rushing toward the jeep and hitting it.
Stunned guide Johann Lombard, who has run safaris in the area for more than two decades, said the incident was extremely rare.

‘I’ve never seen anything like it in 23 years,’ the guide says.
