Walking to Borax Haystacks Pano 2

This is a panoramic shot I took just as the sun’s direct light was leaving Death Valley for one of the last times in 2007.
Boja and I were well on our way towards the "Borax haystacks" near (as the crow flies) the Harmony Borax Works. This was one of the most beautiful and otherworldly hikes that I have ever taken.
That white stuff on the ground is wonderfully crunchy salt, not snow. The yellow hills a ways back are Mustard Canyon. I have seen them called "badlands". They were pretty nicelands, actually, though they wouldn’t do for any kind of gardening.
