ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Our society, it feels, is entangled in its busi(y)ness. Many are cooped up in ties, while others are uploading their 101st profile picture. We’re trying to squeez through the cracks of the cement we’ve poured on ourselves. Unfortunately, happiness is lost in this solid mix.

How can we move again with the natural flow and re-align with the earth?

South Africa’s tribal culture may present us with a fresh perspective. That is if they still remain. Our oldest human traditions and the people who speak them are quickly dwindling into extinction. What if there’s something we can all do about it? Together with you, we are creating a film to chronicle the shamans and wise ones – collectively hearing their living voices.

Beginning in Johannesburg, an interviewing streak we will make, snaking around the cradle of homo-sapiens. Oral history, plant technologies, and shamanic wisdom kick off the conversation.

What are we looking for in these interviews? Goodness, Beauty, and Truth exuding from a people. Practical techniques and traditions that bring humans joy and freedom. Discovering the healing power of reconnecting with our ancestors. To learn shamanic methods of trance & the ecstatic state. Our team of five will be put to the test. We’ll be exploring some of the oldest sacred places and cave drawings on this planet, and… filming it all to share with you.

Join us as we are stepping into the unknown. On our quest the unpredictable will raise questions. The answers will challenge our expectations, beliefs, and even cultural identity. To share the whole experience we’re including this very personal part of our journey in the documentary. This will be the golden thread weaving through the interviews.

The outcome will be an integrative art piece full of beautiful African voices to raise awareness and consciousness. Your Sangoma-DVD will also offer you special features with direct lessons of genuine shamanic techniques and methods, and other treasures yet to uncover.

INTERVIEW SUBJECTS

Anton Bouwer: In the “gem of the Karoo,” Anton has created a massive cactus labrynth while operating the largest privately owned cactus nursery in the world. He brings people of many faiths and traditions together to explore consciousness.

Roger Webster is a South African Historian who believes that many heroic deeds by both black and white South Africans have been been brushed under the carpet. He writes so that a Nation can remember who it is, and where it came from.

Location: Johannesburg

Credo Mutwa is a South African Zulu Sangoma and High Sanusi. He has won numerous awards for his work on nature conservation in South Africa, is a leading expert on the occult history of Africa, an acclaimed author, artist, poet and sculptor.

Antoinette Pienaar (with Oom Johannes Willemse)
Antoinette Pienaar, South African actress and singer, nearly died of spinal malaria before meeting 92 year-old Griqua master herbalist Oom Johannes Willemse. He had been dreaming of her arrival for 40 years. After a complete healing, Antoinette is now the Griqua’s apprentice.
