HULL’S main phone and Internet provider insists it continues to offer “Britain’s best value call plans” – despite a price increase.
KC, which has more than 100,000 customers, says although prices will rise in June, people are still getting a good deal.

Letters will this week be sent out to all KC Talk customers informing them of a 50p price hike per month on their line rental.
There will be a £1.50 price rise for customers on older Karoo packages, however customers on the phone and broadband bundles will not be affected.
The company is also withdrawing all of its broadband services which offer speeds of 2Mbps or less.
Nick Thompson, KC’s director of consumer services, said: “These are modest increases that apply just to our call-only plans and older broadband services that have been superseded by much faster packages.
“The increases are less than the rate of inflation.
“Our customers will continue to enjoy Britain’s best value call plans.
“We’re the only UK home phone provider to give customers free local calls 24/7.”
KC told the Mail it expects an increase in the number of calls from customers after it released the details of its price increases, but said it encourages people to get in touch with its Hull call centre, so they can advise them.
The company often comes under fire for having a “monopoly” in the city because other providers including Sky, Virgin and BT choose not to operate in Hull.
Other companies advertise joint bundles for TV, internet and phone lines nationally, however these are not available through KC.
Customer Colette Tallett- Blenkinsop, of Hull, said: “It’s very unfair that we are the only place in the country where we don’t have a choice of suppliers.”
Karoo customer Dan Husband, 24, of Chanterlands Avenue, west Hull, said: “I’ve never had a problem with KC and their technical support is good too.
“The price increase isn’t that bad really.”
KC accepts its prices are perceived as expensive but said in comparison with other providers, its stand-alone line rental costs cannot be beaten.
KC’s cheapest monthly line rental is £12.99, compared with BT’s cheapest which is £14.60 per month.
Mr Thompson said: “People do feel we are more expensive but when you compare prices for line rental, we are the best value in the country.
“We are transparent about what we charge and there are no hidden costs.”
The price rises come a year after the last price increase.
