Bloemfontein – The pregnant woman who disappeared from her Bloemfontein flat about a month ago has been found dead near the city, police said on Tuesday.
Celeste Fraser-Carson, 28, was found buried near the Meadows Road in the Bloemspruit area on Tuesday morning, spokesperson Captain Harry Nagel said.
The discovery followed the arrest of a 30-year-old man, sought by police in the matter, in Graaff Reinet on Monday night, after information was followed up.
Since the arrest police had worked continuously until the body was found. The man took police to Naval Hill and then showed them the place where Fraser-Carson was found.
“It is believed that she was killed on Naval Hill before her body was buried on the embankment,� Nagel said.
A post mortem would attempt to determine the cause of her death and how long she had been buried.
Nagel said the man would appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of murder and escaping from custody.
Fraser-Carson’s disappearance received prominent attention in the local media.
Photos of the missing mother, expecting her second child, were pinned up all over the city, including at the local magistrate’s court.
According to media reports Fraser-Carson, who worked at a local hospital, got into a car outside her flat on February 8 and was not seen again.
